Geography: Conclusion

Imagen
I Learned That… 1.     Argentina's geology is dominated by the metamorphic and igneous rocks of the Andes to the west and a large sedimentary basin to the east. 2. Argentina is divided into four main geographical areas: the Andes mountain range, the Mesopotamia, the Pampas and the Patagonia. 3. Argentina principle climate in the north of the country, including latitudes in and below the Tropic of Capricorn, is characterized by very hot and wet summers. 4. Water flow relevance is based on it’s potential to be used for irrigation and as a source of energy. 5. The most important hydrographic systems in Argentina are the Plata Basin and the Patagonian System.

Geography: Hydrography

Imagen
Hydrography The Hydrography in Argentina, is of exceptional richness.  Argentina has over its territory many rivers, and has, lakes, wetlands, lagoons, ice fields and groundwater. Argentina has many rivers which are, for the most part, navigable, traverse the country. Some of these are extremely important in hydroelectric terms, such as Yacyretá dam and Represa Salto Grande. The most important hydrographic systems in Argentina belong to the Atlantic Slope. They are the Plata Basin and the Patagonian System. Argentina also has other water systems as endorheic basins, the slope of the Pacific and the lakes and lagoons. Geography: Regions

Regions   Argentina can roughly be divided into four main geographical areas: the spectacular Andes mountain range, the dry North along with the more verdant Mesopotamia, the lush plains of the Pampas and the windswept of Patagonia.   Mount Aconcagua soars almost 7,000m (23,000ft), and waterfalls at Iguazu stretch out in a massive semi-circle, thundering 70m (230ft) to the bed of the Paraná River. Geography: Geology Of Argentina

Imagen
Geology of Argentina           The Argentine mainland is included in four major geological regions: the Patagonian massif, which occupies the south of the country, is a basement from the Precambrian times; the system of the Andes, to the west originated by the Andean Folding; and the Brasilia Shield or Massif, whose southwestern rim crosses the west of Mesopotamia, the stable basement of the South American subcontinent, among which was formed by the accumulation of marine and volcanic sediments from the other three regions, the Chaco-Pampean plain.           Argentina's geology is dominated by the metamorphic and igneous rocks of the Andes to the west and a large sedimentary basin to the east. A small, northeastern section of the country extends into the Río de la Plata craton. Alden, A. (02 of April, 2017). Geography: Water Resources

Imagen
Water Resources   In Argentina, the fluvial net is integrated by many systems of different economic relevance. Water flow relevance is based on its potential to be used for irrigation and as a source of energy. Depending on where the water streams drain, rivers and creeks could be classified into three different kinds of watersheds: Open or exorheic watersheds: they have exterior drainage - Parana River, Uruguay River, Negro River . Closed or endorheic watersheds: they have interior drainage - Atuel River, Diamante River, Tunuyan River . Areic watersheds: they lack of drainage and could be found in the center-west of the chaquenean plain, on the west of the pampean region and in some patagonic areas . Wagner, N. Geography: Climate

Imagen
Climate Argentina is subject to a variety of climates. The north of the country, including latitudes in and below the Tropic of Capricorn, is characterized by very hot, wet summers, which result in a lot of swamp lands, with mild drier winters, and is subject to periodic droughts during the winter season. Central Argentina has hot summers with tornadoes and thunderstorms, in western Argentina producing some of the world's largest hail, and cool winters. The southern regions have warm summers and cold winters with heavy snowfall, especially in mountainous zones. Higher elevations at all latitudes experience cooler conditions. World Climate Guide. Geography! Argentina , country of  South America , covering most of the southern portion of the continent. The world’s eighth largest country, Argentina occupies an area more extensive than  Mexico  and the U.S. state of Texas combined. It encompasses immense plains, deserts, tundra, and forests, as well as tall mountains, rivers, and thousands of miles of ocean shoreline.  Argentina also claims a portion of Antarctica, as well as several islands in the South Atlantic, including the British-ruled Falkland Islands or Islas Malvinas.
